Vola-Tile
Vola-Tile is a Unity based project created for my Advanced Game Projects course in the spring of 2023. As a member of a team of 6 people, we created a survival, civilization builder on top of a customizable cellular automata.
My focus was on Settler mechanics (movement, death, and respawn), House functionality, and integrating sound (music and effects).
Takeaways
During this project, I worked primarily on the mechanics related to Settlers: their movement, death and respawn, and their houses. This let me touch on a variety of systems including searching algorithms on tile maps, music and sound effect integration, and a little bit of art and design. Further, I spent a good amount of time on game balancing and QA to ensure the base game was fair and fun.
